Kinesiology Minor in Human Nutrition

The minor in Human Nutrition is available to any University of Waterloo undergraduate student enrolled in an Honours or Four-Year General plan. It gives recognition to students who choose to specialize in the study of Nutrition.

The minor provides students with knowledge of nutritional biochemistry, digestion, absorption and metabolism. Students can also examine the role of nutrition throughout the life cycle, the importance of nutrition in preventing chronic diseases and health promotion, as well as study the social and economic influences on nutrition.

Students completing this minor will be able to evaluate nutrient intakes of individuals and appraise the intake of nutrients at the population level.  Students will also be proficient at interpreting the scientific literature to develop evidence based hypotheses in the area on nutrition and human health and communicating this knowledge to professional and lay audiences.

To declare for the Human Nutrition Minor, students will need to submit a Plan Modification/Application for Internal Transfer Form to the Undergraduate Coordinator of the Department of Kinesiology.
