A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support the 6th Annual Aftab Patla Memorial Cup!

Over 175 students, staff, faculty, and alumni watched the exciting hockey game, as the Undergrads beat the Graduate/Faculty/Staff team 10-6! The arena was filled with spirit, and some even came in costume.

Sophie & Dave from 91.5 the Beat Breakfast show did an amazing job hosting the event.

This year we raised just over $4,200, which after being matched by the Government of Ontario will total close to $10,000 towards sustaining an undergraduate Kinesiology scholarship in Dr. Patla's name.

We hope to see you next year for the 7th Annual Aftab Patla Memorial Cup! The game will be at the end of March 2013. Start looking for updates in January 2013!

HISTORY OF THE CUP

This fun and entertaining fund-raising hockey game began in 2007 to commemorate our colleague and mentor who died after a courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Patla was a professor of Kinesiology at UW for 25 years with a research interest in health, aging and human movement.

The hockey game pits a team of Kinesiology Undergraduate Students against a team made up of Kinesiology Graduate Students, Faculty

and Staff. Since 2007, we have raised over $30,000 from the generous support of alumni, faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students, alumni, and members of our local community.

Thanks to a government gift matching program, around $70,000 has been put toward the Aftab Patla Memorial Endowment Fund to benefit undergraduate students.
