As a Recreation student you have two great ways to study - co-op or regular. Regardless of which path you choose, you’ll take the same academic courses, learn in state-of-the-art facilities, and have the support of friendly, helpful staff. To figure out which route is right for you, consider the following:
Co-op:
- After first year, alternate between 4-month work terms, and 4-month study terms
- Gain almost two years of work experience. View a list of sample jobs here.
- Network with employers and build valuable contacts.
- Earn money that can help you pay for your education. View the average salary range for students in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences.
Regular:
- Have your summers off to pursue jobs and other pursuits that are particular to your interests
- Have consistency in your studies, social life and living arrangements
- Graduate in 4 years, versus 5 years in co-op

Applying:
When you submit your application to Recreation and Leisure Studies, you must indicate whether you would like to be considered for co-op. If you are interested in co-op, click the "Co-op - Yes" circle on the application form. If you're not granted a space in co-op you will be automatically considered for the regular program.
