Tourism Option

Degree Requirements

The Tourism Option provides an opportunity for students to focus their studies in the tourism field, exploring topics such as tourism impacts, tourism planning and marketing, cultural heritage, and outdoor recreation resource management.

The Tourism Option is available to students in any honours-level plan at the University of Waterloo. Students wishing to graduate with the Tourism Option should complete a "Plan Modification Form" to add the option to their plan of study and submit it to the Associate Chair, Undergraduate Studies in their home department to become officially registered.

Use the Course Inventory checklist below to keep track of your Tourism Option requirements as you complete your courses each term.

Students interested in working for the Canadian Federal Government are encouraged to take French language courses.

Students interested in the Tourism Option may wish to contact Dr. Stephen Smith in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies. He often has information on guest lectures of interest and employment opportunities, and can add you to his mailing list. He also has access to a wealth of resources in the tourism field.
