Winners Comments

As per the tradition, here's my acceptance speech for winning the 'coveted' Broken Hockey Stick.

First of all, I would like to thank Bryan (for organizing the pool) & Terry (for all of the technical expertise and his willingness to share and explain). A thank you should also go the NHL for bringing back a better brand of hockey, where skills can be displayed as opposed to the clutch & grab thuggery of the past. It's interesting that in a league where skill is rewarded, the Leafs faltered.... Now I could go on a long convoluted tirade about my disdain for the Leafs, however, justice has been served and has been since 1867 (at least it seems that long ago) so that will suffice.

I would like to applaud the challenge of my closest competitors Geoff and Darla. Well done (even if you used all 4 of your trades)! Troy's feeble entry "The Mighty Sticks" was only matched by the terrible display of the rest of the AHS Computing Office (including Terry's protest this year which taints the victory somewhat; however, winning our soccer pool will more than compensate). And no matter how many Spartans are in the pool, Mark's relative rise to mediocrity is still sad. Was he trying or did he simply fail at failing???

That just about covers it! Now for the Stanley Can...

PS.

For the record I fared reasonably well in Bill's BeeHive Pool as well, http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~bee/pools/hockey0506/standings.html

Considering I made my picks in a public library in Blairgowrie, Scotland in 5 min., a respectable finish.
