Dear RecPool Participants:

With the final round of the NHL Playoffs set, no doubt everyone will be making their final trades to position their teams to make one last run at the Can. Before you press ahead with your trades, however, pause and give serious thought to what a Stanley Can victory would mean to the Happy Purple Dinosaurs (HPD), a team managed by a young lady (see http:www.ahs.uwaterloo.ca/~tdglover/claire.html) whose hopes and dreams are unconsciously tied to the performance of her remaining six players . Surely you wouldn't deny a two-year old this opportunity? I mean, consider the narrative of her playoff season: Despite being denied a first-round trade, the HPD have methodically climbed the ranking to tie for fourth going into the finals. Only the evil CAN't Carp seem to stand in the way -- Williamson's team has been in steady decline since the beginning of the third round, and Kellendonk's performance, by all accounts, appears to be a one-round wonder, so I don't even count them as threats at this point. All said, I ask you, what does it say about YOUR character (Tova and everyone else who is about to follow her with fourth round trades) that you would actively try to thwart the attempts of a two-year old to win the Can? I mean, what kind of world do we live in where people are so thirsty for victory that they would sink to such levels? My friends, it's time to think with your hearts, not your heads.

Sincerely,

Troy Glover GM, The Mighty Sticks
